Connie Atwood McCarthy

NAPLES, FL – Connie Atwood McCarthy 85, of Naples, Florida passed away on August 5, 2017 at Avow Hospice in Naples.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, August 19 at the Lakeview Cemetery, West Central Avenue, Mackinaw City, Michigan. Pastor David Wallis will be officiating.

Connie was born on November 19, 1931, in Caro, Michigan. She was raised in Michigan and North Dakota and graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks in 1949.

Connie studied Psychology at the University of North Dakota, played in the band and orchestra, and participated in musical productions throughout her college career. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and graduated with a degree in Psychology in 1953.

Connie was a loving mother to her two sons and her husband, Gary, and also held positions at the Grand Ledge Public Library and the Whitefish Point Lighthouse Museum for many years. She loved Northern Michigan, the lakes, boating and anything outdoors, and was involved in many community, social and charitable activities.

Connie and Gary retired first to Paradise, Michigan and then onto Marquette, Michigan.

Connie is survived by her son, Lee (Lisa) McCarthy of Naples, Florida and brother, Ted (Donna) Atwood of Redding, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theron and Margaret Atwood, her husband, Gary McCarthy and son, Christopher McCarthy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Avow Hospice of Naples and Arden Courts of Lely Palms.
