Sandra L. Ball

ISHPEMING, Mich. — Sandra L. Ball, age 66, of 21 Sunnyside Estates, Ishpeming, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at UP Health System Marquette. Sandy had been in battling lung cancer for the past year and a half.

Sandy was born August 3, 1950 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late Paul “Lenny” and Ruth “Penny” (Penberthy) Grund. She grew up in Negaunee and was a graduate of the Negaunee High School, Class of 1968. Sandy had worked as a in-home caregiver for Arcadia Home Health, a nurses aid at the Marquette Co Medical Care Facility and with her husband Patrick for the Levi Badger Periodical Co.

Sandy had been a member of the Mitchell United Methodist Church. She loved her flower gardens, playing computer games, fishing and especially her grandchildren. Sandy had been a avid bowler in local leagues and once threw a “299”, and was a member of the Ishpeming / Negaunee horseshoe league. Sandy will be sadly missed by her beloved dog, Harley.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Patrick Ball of Ishpeming, 3 children – Tracy (Bruce) Ledlow of Smiths, AL, Todd (Kristen Hill) Ball and Troy (Lynn) Ball both of Ishpeming, 4 grandchildren – Brent, Chelsea, Devin and Alyssa and a great- granddaughter Trinidy along with her special friend Elaine “Dot” Anderson.

She was preceded in death by a grandson Ryan Ball, and most recently her mother Ruth “Penny” Behrens on June 12, 2017.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Thursday July 20, 2017 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. D. Michael Carriere to officiate. Interment will take place at the Negaunee Cemetery.

The Ball family would especially like to thank the Dr.’s and staff members at UPHS Marquette for their care of Sandy during her hospital stays this past year and a half.
