Mary Teresa Murray
MARQUETTE, MI – Mary Teresa Murray, 83, lifelong Marquette resident, entered into eternal rest Thursday, July 6, 2017 at UP Health System – Marquette.
Mary was born September 13, 1933, in Marquette, to Louis and Martha (Erickson) Zorza.
She married the love of her life, Eugene Murray, on June 13, 1953, and was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grand- mother. Her life revolved around her family and community of friends. Mary worked at NMU for over 25 years, retiring in 1994. She was a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and enjoyed seeing the smiles on the faces of those she helped; she was the most selfless woman. Mary’s purpose was to dedicate her time and love to others. She was a longtime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mary and Eugene were members of St. Peter Cathedral where Mary volunteered with the altar society.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Eugene; her parents; and brother, Raymond Zorza.
She is survived by her daughters, Kristin Myers of Indiana, Maureen Lafkas of Illinois and Paulette Murray and her fiance Dave of Escanaba, MI; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
