Janice Kay Hull

REPUBLIC, MI – Janice K. Hull, age 56 of 9447 County Road 601, Republic peacefully passed away at her home with her husband and daughter at her side. She was also in the care of Lake Superior Hospice.

Janice was born November 18, 1960 in Ishpeming to the late Toivo and Margaret (Sirtola) Isaacson. She graduated from Republic Michigamme School where she was active in basketball, track, band, baton and forensics. She attended Northern Michigan University after graduation. Janice worked at Pamida in Ishpeming then started working at TruNorth Credit Union as a teller for many years. She always had a smile on her face and made many, many friends while she was working. Janice enjoyed being with family, she loved to cook, listen to music, read, work in the garden, go for a cruise on her Harley, kayaking with her friends, watching all the different animals in the back yard, watching the Packers play, watching her nephews football games and she loved taking care of everyone. She was “Mom” to many people.

She is survived by her husband Steve, daughter Amanda (Suomi) Swartz, step-son Stephen Hull, brother John (Kim) Isaacson, brother-in-law Don Syrjala, nieces Jill (Ryan Mattila) Syrjala, Stacie Syrjala, Ashley Saari, Bryanna Saari, Olivia Mattila, Isabel Isaacson, nephews Christopher (Nadera) Isaacson, Halen Carello and Brenden Mattila. She is also survived by aunts Elaine Johnson, Diane Sirtola, uncles Bob (Sharon) Venn and Ernie Piirto, God-Mothers Kathleen Dawson and Alice Eman, many cousins and many friends that she considered family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Toivo and Margaret Isaacson and sister Marie Syrjala.

The family would like to thank Lake Superior Hospice for their wonderful care of Jan for the past 2 years, she was very grateful for their services and company.

The family would also like to say thank you for everyone’s condolences and kind words.

Janice will be greatly missed by many.

The family will hold an informal Remembrance and luncheon to follow at the Bethany Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Republic, MI on Saturday, May 20 and will begin welcoming friends and family at 4pm.
