Mark Daniel Miller

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI. – Mark Daniel Miller, age 56, of Marquette Township, entered eternal life Friday morning, April 28, 2017, at his home, in the loving, comforting care of his family.

Born April 27, 1961, in Marquette, a son of Daniel and Judith (Swenor) Miller, Mark was raised in Marquette and graduated from Marquette Senior High School. Following graduation, Mark entered the apprenticeship program through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1070, beginning a long career that would take him to various locations throughout the country before eventually returning to Marquette.

He was employed through Local 1070, most recently as an electrician at Northern Michigan University. Mark was very family centered and especially enjoyed whenever he could share activities with them. He loved the outdoors, being at camp, jet skiing, and could usually be found tinkering and putzing outside his home. He was generous with both his time and talent, and adhered to his philosophy that “he just wanted to spend his life helping other people.”ù That, hee did, and did well. His years were far too brief, but filled with quality if not with quantity. His was a “life well lived.” Mark was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and Electricians Local IBEW 1070.

Mark is survived by his wife of 21 years, Chris (Compton) Miller; three daughters, Kelsey, Taylor, and Lexi all of Marquette; his parents, Daniel and Judy Miller of Marquette; two sisters, Sue (John) Manion of San Diego, CA and Cathy Daley of Minneapolis, MN; a brother, David (Suzanne) Miller of Sturgeon Bay, WI; his in-laws, Del and Jayne Compton of Marquette; sister-in-law, Tracey Compton of Marquette; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his aunt.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michael Catholic Church on Monday, May 1, beginning at 3:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:00 pm Monday evening with Rev. Greg Heikkala, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
