MARQUETTE, MI – Frank Tramp, 83, of Marquette, died Friday, March 17, 2017 at U.P. Health System-Marquette.
Frank was born on June 4, 1933 in Iron Mountain, a son of the late George and Bertha (Johnson) Tramp. He had lived in Marquette since 1943. On April 13, 1963, Frank married the former Helen Todd at First Presbyterian Church in Marquette.
Having honorably served his country with the U.S. Air Force from 1952-57, Frank returned from service to become employed at Frei Chevrolet for 13 years. He retired as fleet superintendent of Metz Baking Company in 1995 after 22 years of service with them.
Frank was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marquette and was a very active member of Marquette Lodge #101, Free and Accepted Masons, the Scottish rite and Ahmed Temple Shrine where he was a member of the ritualistic cast. Frank was awarded the degree of 33rd degree, the highest award in Free Masonry in 1980. Over the course of many years, he portrayed the parts of Chaplain and Worshipful Master of the funeral ritual team in the Blue Lodge.
He was a former member of Marquette Range Engineers.
Frank is survived by two sons, Frank Tramp of Kalamazoo and Stephen (Jodi) Tramp of Ashwaubenon, WI; three grandchildren, David Maurice (Faith) Tramp, Andrew Stephen Tramp and Kaitlyn Nicole Tramp; one brother, George D. Tramp, Jr. of Jackson, MI and also many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was his wife, Helen on October 3, 2010.
The Tramp family will greet relatives and friends at First Presbyterian Church in Marquette on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Nicholas Cammarata officiating.
Burial will take place in the Park Cemetery.
