ISHPEMING, MI. – Sharon K. Connors, age 78, of 851 Wabash St., Ishpeming passed away on Tuesday February 7, 2017 at UP Health System Bell where she had been a patient since this past Saturday.

Sharon was born April 19, 1938 in Ishpeming, the daughter of the late Carl and Dagney (Blocken) Hendrickson. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1956. She married the late Thomas E. Connors on August 8, 1956. They began their life together in Milwaukee, then moved back to Ishpeming to raise their family. Sharon enjoyed working part-time through the years, particularly her last job working in Dr. Bietila’s office.

Sharon had a very deep faith in God and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church throughout her life. She loved to volunteer in the community and at her church. Throughout the years she enjoyed playing Bridge, golfing, the occasional trip to the casino, and being able to spend time with her family and friends. She was most proud of her grandchildren and cherished being with them, making special memories of their time together especially at their home on Big Shag Lake. Sharon and Tom enjoyed traveling together over the years, and following retirement when they would spend the winter months in Texas or Mississippi.

Survivors include a son Gary (Jill) Connors of Danville, PA along with his son David; a daughter Kirsten (Vince) Vilona of DeWitt, MI and their children Michael, Carolyn and Gina; a daughter Karen Taras of Ishpeming and her daughters Alison and Emma; 4 sisters in law – Helen Hendrickson of Vancouver, WA Mary (Glen) Remmel of Brookfield, WI, Frances (David) Lukkarinen of Gwinn and Anne Connors of Negaunee; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Tom Connors in 2011, her parents, a sister Jean Kangas and 4 brothers – Carl, Marvin, Jack and Roger Hendrickson.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am – 11:00am on Saturday February 11, 2017 at the Trinity Lutheran Church.

A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00am on Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kenneth Lahners to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery Columbarium. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall.

Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Sharon’s memory.
