Robert ‘Bob’ D. Garrett
FORT MYERS, FL – Robert “Bob” D. Garrett, 47, of Fort Myers passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017.
Bob grew up in Ishpeming, Michigan. He attended the University of Rhode Island where he was a member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity and graduated with a degree in Communications. He began his career in radio broadcasting in Providence, Rhode Island and then moved to Sarasota, Florida and continued at WEBN in Cincinnati, Ohio. Bob’s career then took him to Fort Myers where he worked for ten years for Beasley Broadcasting Group. He worked at both 99X and K-Rock. His proudest career accomplishment was the Zito and Garrett Morning Show on 99X. He loved his work and his fans and was proud to be a part of this community.
He met his wife during his days at WEBN. Bob and Lynne were married on November 25, 2005 and welcomed their son Nathan a few years later. Their family was very special – filled with love, warmth and laughter. Bob lived life to the fullest. He was a light to all of those who knew him and will be forever missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jean Culley and his father-in-law, Richard Ward. Bob is survived by his wife, Lynne; Son, Nathan; Sister, Lisa (Sidney) Chiang; father, James (Marie Marchese) Garrett; stepfather, Earl Culley; nephews: Jett and Luke Chiang; mother-in-law, Katherine Ward; sister-in-law, Jane (Scott) Hamilton and brother-in-law, Steve Ward.
Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park 12777 State Road 82 in Fort Myers on Friday, February 17 from 5 to 8 pm.
A funeral mass celebrating his life will be held at St. John XXIII Catholic Church 13060 Palomino Lane in Fort Myers on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
