John Bell Sr.

MARQUETTE, MI – John C. “Jack” Bell, age 81, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his home in Marquette.

He was born January 18, 1936 in Lapeer, Michigan, son of Charles and Naida (Stimpson) Bell. He was raised in Capac, Michigan and moved to Paradise, Michigan after retirement as an experimental mechanic at Ford Proving Grounds in Romeo, Michigan.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Hamilton); his daughter Jayme of Marquette; and his son John (Colleen) of McMillan; grandchildren Samantha Feskhorn (John), Jill Plesscher, and Joe Dupuis; as well as great grandchildren Kayla, Brianna, Alley, Gabby, Alana and Emma. Many others called him Dad, Grampa or Papa Jack.

Jack loved the U. P. and especially the area around the Tahquamenon River and Paradise. He hunted, fished, and watched the river flow by. He and Virginia also spent many years working in Haiti, through the Volunteers in Mission program of the United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at Paradise United Methodist Church later this year. Memorials may be made to that church. The family would also like to express their thanks to the UPHS EMS and Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home for their compassionate service.
