MARQUETTE, MI – Gerald F. Drazkowski, 67, long-time resident of Marquette passed away on February 21, 2017, after a long battle with oral cancer. He was born November 9, 1949, in Bessemer, Michigan, where he lived until he graduated from A. D. Johnston High School in 1967. He attended Northern Michigan University on a football scholarship and graduated from N.M.U. in 1972 with a Bachelors Degree in Business.

In 1986 Jerry returned to Marquette and worked as a Corrections Officer at the Marquette State Prison until his retirement in 2006. He was a passionate sports fan who coached youth baseball and hockey. He also supported and enjoyed N.M.U. hockey, football, and basketball.

Jerry, known as “Draz” by his friends, was an avid golfer, hunter, and sports enthusiast. His love for the Green Bay Packers was self-evident. On any given beautiful U.P. day, Draz could be found golfing at the Chocolay Downs Golf Club, where he participated in different leagues. If he wasn’t enjoying sports, he was busy visiting with his children and grandchildren over a big meal at one of his favorite local restaurants.

Jerry is survived by four children: son, Josh Drazkowski, his wife Michelle and grandchildren Colleen and Ryan; daughters, Jodi Draher and granddaughters Breanna, Ami, and Elizabeth; Rebecca Hagen, her husband Kristoffer and granddaughters Alexandria, Ariana, and Ava; Jessica Larsen, husband Rick and grandson R.J.
