Bobby Warren Henry

KINGSFORD, MI – Bobby Warren Henry 89, of Kingsford, completed his journey to heaven on February 20, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born in Kingsford, Michigan, son of William and Helen Henry on August 6, 1927. He married Geraldine “Geri” Hayden on August 30, 1947 and they have three children, William, Suzanne and Carol.

He is survived by his wife, Geri; three children, William (Kathy) Henry of Marquette, MI, Suzanne (Gary) Haberman of Marquette, MI, and Carol (Jim) Ries of Kingsford; a brother in law, Robert Leeman; grandchildren, Chad (Tonya) Henry, Ryan Henry, Krista (Matthew) Small, Morgan (Eric) Switzer, Kimberly Lajoice, Anthony (Rebecca) Sculati, Jordan (Cody) Mortl; great grandchildren, Evan Henry, Eli Lajoice, Oliver Small, Chloe Mortl, Sophia Sculati and Keira Sculati. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he dearly loved, including his very special niece and nephew Mary Murray and Mike Rodman.

During his lifetime, Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford, serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Bob will be remembered by his family and friends as a very talented person who had a positive influence on all that knew him. Regardless of the many health challenges that he had during his life, he always had a great outlook and smile. He loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a true friend in every way, expecting nothing in return, no strings attached to his love or friendship.

Throughout his life he was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, attending many games over the years. One of his many joys was hunting with his best friend Ron Cerasoli. He was a salesman for Kraft Foods for over 40 years, making many great friends, while accumulating over a half million miles driven with no accidents. His talents were reflected in all that he did. He loved being with people, helping with their projects, and was a person you count on. For many years he owned Bob and Gerry’s Bar in Kingsford.

Bob served his country in WWII in the Navy on LST 1069. Most of his duty time was spent in the East China Sea and the Philippine Sea with multiple ports of call in China, Japan and many of the islands in those areas. One of his favorite trips was when he was a part of Honor Flight IV to Washington DC.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, Betty, Mary, Patsy and William. Also by a daughter in law, Ragene Henry.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford on Friday, February 24th from 10:00am-12:00 noon. Funeral services will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Michael March will officiate. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery. Bob’s seven grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
