Superiorland Voices: In honor of Young Authors week, what was your favorite book as a child?
DARIAN HILLAKER
Marquette
"The only thing I can think of is the Rainbow Fish. The shiny colors really stood out, I'm a very color-oriented person. That and all the Eric Carle books."
ALEX FIELDS
Marquette
"'Where the Wild Things Are.' I had the Max pajamas and everything. I very much related to that child, I was a hellion. I really like the artwork and I would ask my mom to read it to me all the time."
KARL NUMINEN
Marquette
"The first one that comes to mind is 'A Wrinkle in Time.' I loved that book. It was a completely different story than I'd ever heard or read before in that it was almost supernatural."
ELLIE SCHELLHASE
Marquette
"It was the Uncle Wiggily series. They don't make them anymore. There were a lot of fantasy animals in it that could talk, it was deligthful."
JOAN BENNETT
Marquette
"My mom used to always read to me in bed at night. I'm not sure if this is the name, but I think it was "The Little House" or "the Littlest House." It was about this family who lived in town and then moved it out into the beautiful country. I related with the family and I loved the pictures in it too."
CAT STENBERG
Marquette
"I'd say Junie B. Jones. I used to read it before bed every night with my mom. Well, that was for like a year. Also "Go, Dog. Go!" -- that's a good one."
