Culliton named as chair
Kristin Culliton, CPA, CGMA, has been named chairwoman of the 2016-2017 Foundation of Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance Board of Directors. She is a member of the Wichita Chapter in Kansas.
“The Foundation AFWA provides a unique opportunity to support the next generation of women in accounting and finance. I am honored to be a part of its leadership,” said Culliton, who is the controller at Cigar Chateau and Jacob Liquor Exchange in Wichita, Kansas. Jacob Liquor Exchanged is a family owned and operated business that is going on its 38th year of existence. In that time the store has changed locations five times and grown to 30,000 square feet and is the largest wine/beer/spirit retailer in Wichita.
In 2003, the national trade publication, Market Watch recognized Jacob Liquor Exchange as a Market Watch Leader in the industry. In 2011, they also awarded Jacob Liquor for their charitable giving within the community. Today, they strive to continue their involvement in the community and to continue doing what has brought them the successes they have – great service, great selection, and the knowledge to go along with it.
An AFWA member since 1996, Culliton has served on the Wichita Chapter Board as vice president, secretary, and director of the newsletter/website. At a national level, Kris served as a regional director.
Kris began serving on the foundation board in 2011, serving as chair-elect, vice-chair, treasurer, and director. Kris is also a member of the AICPA, and KSCPA. Kris is a Michigan native, where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Michigan University. She is a graduate of Ishpeming High School.
“Culliton is an integral leader for The Foundation. Her expertise and time as a board member is essential for our work. AFWA needs volunteers like her to carry out the mission of the organization,” said Ericka Harney, executive director of AFWA.
