Man arrested for base jumping
GOULD CITY — Deputies from the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office on Friday afternoon arrested a downstate man after being dispatched to microwave relay towers near Moran and Rexton after receiving reports of an individual “base jumping” there.
Deputies surmised the individual was traveling through the Upper Peninsula to the various microwave and communications towers. They discovered the individual at a tower near Gould City.
Deputies arrested a 29-year-old man from Troy for trespassing upon key facilities and lodged him in the Mackinac County Jail. Deputies were working with the security agents from the owners of the facilities for inspection of the towers.
