Shots fired, woman surrenders

MARINETTE — A 52-year-old female was taken into custody Wednesday following a successful crisis negotiation situation — a response initiated after reports were received of shots fired from a residence in Beecher.

According to a release from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received regarding possible shots fired on Smeester School Road around 12:16 p.m. Wednesday.

The woman, who is not being named by authorities at this time pending further investigation of the incident, was reportedly armed and barricaded into the residence.

Crisis negotiators responding to the scene were able to successfully convince the woman to surrender, police say.

She was taken safely into custody. No injuries were reported.

Also assisting at the scene were personnel from the Marinette Police Department, Peshtigo Police Department, Pembine Rescue, Beacon Ambulance and Brown County/Green Bay Police Department.
