Regional Roundtable coming
L’ANSE — Want to learn how to make your community a better place to live, work and play? Want to understand the concept of placemaking and how it impacts visitors and residents alike?
Then plan to attend the Regional Roundtable on April 20 and join representatives of the Western Upper Peninsula Regional Chamber Alliance, guest presenters and members of the public at the L’Anse American Legion, 115 N. Front St., L’Anse.
The program is hosted by the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce and begins with an informal placemaking tour of Baraga County at the chamber office at 2 E. Broad St. in L’Anse. Stop in the office, pick up a map, and view the Chamber Art Gallery and new pocket park beginning at 5 p.m.
The Legion hall will be open for networking beginning at 5 p.m. as well.
A buffet dinner for $15 will be provided at 6:30 p.m. with a cash bar available. At 7 p.m., a panel discussion will be offered with Brad Neumann of MSU Extension acting as moderator. The topic of “Placemaking — How to Enhance the Quality of Life in Your Community” will be outlined, followed by panel participants Bob LaFave, L’Anse Village Manager, Sarah Maki, Assistant CEO of KBIC, and Scott MacInnes, Michigan Municipal League, sharing their placemaking stories.
The Regional Roundtable is an opportunity to network, share best practices and gain an understanding of what others are doing, as well as how efforts can be combined to create greater impacts. This event is open to anyone with an interest in the western Upper Peninsula.
