MARQUETTE — With the Friday deadline looming for the payment of more than $12,000 in delinquent license fees by 48 county restaurant and bar owners, a county official said this morning that some still refuse to pay up.

“A few have come in,” said Marquette County Health Department Director Randy Johnson this morning. “The county board in October sent letters to 48 restaurant and bar owners demanding payment of the 1987 inspection fees or to expect to be closed or taken to court if they don’t.”

The delinquent fees are believed to be in response to quadrupled health department inspection fees for this year’s inspections.
