ISHPEMING — Cameramen for the Hercules Powder company arrived here yesterday to spend several days taking about 5,300 feet of film of some of the large open pit properties at the Volunteer pit in Palmer and underground at one or more of the properties. Scenes will show the proper methods of arranging holes and placing packing and shooting the powder. The educational film will be used in five one-reel stories. Special lighting equipment is carried by the cameramen for underground scenes and they expect to have excellent success in making mining scenes that will be interesting to the public. The pictures will not be for sale, but will be used by the Hercules sales department in demonstrating the various methods of blasting. Milton P. Bessford of Duluth, sales manager for the Hercules company, and William J. Keese of Ishpeming, upper peninsula service expert, are assisting the cameramen.
