MARQUETTE — A grant applications workshop for dispersing $34,857 in federal emergency funds will bring together representatives from around Marquette County Friday morning. The session is slated for 10 a.m. in the Department of Social Services offices of the Marquette County Courthouse annex. Lt. Mike Zorza of the county sheriff’s department’s Emergency Services Division said the $34,857 obtained from the federal government is part of a five-round plan over the past three years. While a number of groups in the county’s east end — St. Vincent de Paul Society, Salvation Army and others — have received funds in the past, it hasn’t been that way on the other side.

“The funds we have allocated in the past for the west end have all gone into the West End Food Coalition,” he said.

MARQUETTE — The necessity of penetrating solid rock for a distance of about 400 feet in order to make sewer connections for the new Graveraet High School has caused some delay in the progress of interior work in the building.
