No injuries reported in accident

WAKEFIELD– No injuries were reported after a Michigan State Police vehicle collided with a snowmobile in Ontonagon County around 7 p.m. Central Standard Time Thursday.

According to police, the Michigan State Police vehicle was eastbound on M-28 in Bergland Township when a snowmobile failed to yield at the intersection of the Bergland Access Trail, crossing the highway in front of the patrol vehicle.

The patrol vehicle struck the snowmobile in the roadway and the driver, Kyle Dreckman, 30, of Iowa, was thrown from the snowmobile.

Dreckman had minor injuries and was transported by Beacon Ambulance to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital where he was treated and released, police said. Troopers did not report any injuries.

The crash remains under investigation at this time, police said Friday.

Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, SONCO Ambulance, Beacon Ambulance, a Michigan State Police accident investigator from the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post and a Michigan State Police accident reconstructionist from Marquette assisted at the scene.
