2 injured, 1 cited in 3-car crash

MARQUETTE — Two people were brought to the hospital and one person was cited after a three-car personal injury accident occurred at the intersection of McClellan Avenue and West Washington Street in Marquette at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Marquette City Police Department.

The accident occurred when a vehicle driven by Carrie Reynolds, 45 of Negaunee, was traveling westbound along West Washington Street and failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of Washington and McClellan. A second vehicle, driven by Jennifer Deiter, 42, Marquette was eastbound on West Washington street and attempting to turn left during a left turn arrow to proceed on to northbound McClellan avenue when it collided with Reynolds’ vehicle. A third vehicle, driven by Addie Goymerac, 43, of Negaunee, was waiting to turn left behind the second vehicle and collided with the Deiter’s vehicle after the initial collision, police said.

Reynolds was found at fault in the accident and was cited for a red light violation, police said. All vehicles involved in the accident were disabled and towed from the scene. Reynolds and Deiter were both transported to UP Health Systems as they reported minor injuries. The third driver “had no complaint of injuries at the time of the investigation,” a release about the incident from police states. The Marquette City Police Department was assisted by personnel from the UPHS Ambulance, Marquette’s fire department and the Michigan State Police.
