Woman taken to hospital after semi and car collide

MARQUETTE — One person was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries after an accident between a semi-tractor and a passenger car in the area of South Front Street and Hampton Street in Marquette Thursday, according to the Marquette Police Department.

A passenger car driven by Carol Marceau, 81, of Marquette, was southbound on South Front Street when the semi pulled out in front of the car around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The semi, driven by Warren Phillips, 28, of Kentucky, had been attempting to turn right onto South Front Street after it had been eastbound on West Hampton Street and missed the stop sign.

According to police, Phillips was found at fault in the accident and was cited for failure to yield. Marceau was transported to UP Health System-Marquette by ambulance and was treated for non-life threatening injuries after the incident.
