Introductory Tai Chi workshop

MARQUETTE — On Saturday, an introductory workshop to Tai Chi Chuan will be held at the Hope Connection Center, 927 W. Fair Ave. in Marquette from 9:30 a.m.-noon. No prior experience is necessary.

Tai Chi is a mind/body practice that uses gentle movement and mental focus to increase levels of balance, flexibility, and energy regulation. It was developed in China in the 8th century by Buddhist monks and is now incorporated in treatment protocols at the Mayo Clinic and Harvard’s Medical School.

Instructors for be be Jon and Diana Magnuson. There is no fee or cost. Summer workshops and class sessions are provided to the community by The Cedar Tree Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides services and initiates projects in the areas of mental health, religion, and the environment.
