MARQUETTE — Chere McGlynn recently completed an adoption of a different sort. McGlynn “adopted” a room at Harbor House, the domestic violence shelter located in Marquette. This adoption meant that McGlynn designed a new look for the front living room at Harbor House and then went a step further by doing the actual labor. After visiting a relative who works at the shelter, McGlynn found out some of the rooms in the home could use some sprucing up.

MARQUETTE — A public demonstration will be the climax to the most successful season in the history of the Baraga High School team, undefeated until it was put out of the state meet by St. Michael’s of Flint. Defeat in the state championship basketball tournament will not distract from Marquette’s tribute to the U.P. champions after the team returns from Detroit. There will be a parade and an assembly at which Mayor John Robertson will give the address.
