NEGAUNEE – The Breitung Hotel, which dominated the skyline at the top of Iron Street in downtown Negaunee for more than a century was destroyed by fire in January. But for those who want to remember the structure, an offer from the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council may be just the ticket. According to Mary Kay Jacobson, executive director, PAAC has a limited number of silkscreen prints featuring the Breitung available for $25. The prints are the work of artist Wendell Mohr, who conducted a workshop in Negaunee last fall. “We asked him to do a scene from Negaunee while he was here and he selected the Breitung,” said Jacobson. Anyone interested in purchasing a silkscreen print can contact the PAAC office between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Weekdays.
