NEGAUNEE — Dennis Peterson today became the second Negaunee High School football player to give a verbal commitment to join the Northern Michigan University grid squad. A 6-4, 186-pound offensive and defensive end, Peterson joins teammate Garrett “Butch” Hill in declaring an intention to become a Wildcat. NHS coach Dick Koski said a few other schools were looking at Peterson — Ferris State and Michigan Tech included. “But his primary interest was NMU all along.” Peterson hauled down 29 passes for 343 yards and nine touchdowns as an offensive end for the Miners in 1987. With Negaunee quarterback Kurt Coduti joining the Michigan Tech squad, the total of Miners gridders going on to the collegiate football level now stands at three.

Sessions will be held one night per week, with Shirley Savitski and Carol Ruesing in charge. Activities in the charm classes range from reducing exercises to volleyball. Women of the area who attended the recent course heard speeches by Betty Peterson from the Upper Peninsula Beauty Academy and Ann Fassbender, representing the Smartwear Shop. The Marquette Recreation Department sponsors the charm classes.
