Suds, Buds and Barristers event

MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University Student Law Forum will host a presentation titled “Search and Seizure” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ore Dock Brewing Company.

Attorney experts Karl Numinen and Phillip Toutant will address Fourth Amendment search issues affecting individuals’ bodies, homes, vehicles and electronic devices. Admission to this Suds, Buds and Barristers event is free.

The NMU Student Law Forum fosters a sense of community for students seeking legal careers. It provides members with resources to successfully make it to law school. These include LSAT prep, law school tours, conferences, speakers and other activities. The Student Law Forum also discusses high-profile legal issues and other relevant topics.

Board of Light and Power to meet

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Board of Light and Power will meet at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in the board room of the MBLP’s main office, 2200 Wright St., Marquette.

The MBLP meeting scheduled for Dec. 26 has been canceled due to lack of agenda items.

MBRA meetings now relocated

MARQUETTE — The location of the Dec. 14 Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority meeting has been changed to the second-floor conference room at the Marquette Municipal Service Center, located at 1100 Wright St.

Unless otherwise specified, all 2018 MBRA meetings will take place at this new location.

MHC reschedules Dec. 25 meeting

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Housing Commission has rescheduled its Dec. 25 meeting for earlier in the month.

The meeting will now take place at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 18 in the conference room at 316 Pine St., Marquette.
