Historical society to meet Tuesday

NEGAUNEE — The Negaunee Historical Society will hold its 32nd annual meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee.

The annual meeting will be followed by its regular monthly meeting. Election of four trustees will take place and all members are welcome to attend.

Marquette compost site now open

MARQUETTE — The city of Marquette’s compost site along Lakeshore Boulevard, one block south of Hawley Street, is temporarily open to allow residents an opportunity to haul their remaining brush and leaves.

Officials said due to limited daylight hours, the site will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., today through Friday as weather permits.

Senior skating tonight at Lakeview

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Senior Center is inviting area skaters age 50 and up to the Monday Night Senior Skate at Lakeview Arena in Marquette.

The senior skating hours are from 7:30 to 9:20 p.m. and take place in the Olson Rink. Officials said there is a new inventory of skates available for use during those hours.

‘A Christmas Tapestry 2017’ nears

MARQUETTE — “A Christmas Tapestry 2017 — Music of the Season” will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1700 W. Fair Ave., Marquette.

Performers include The Marquette County Chamber Chorale and The Marquette Male Chorus, both directed by Wayne Hanmer and accompanied by Dawn Betts. Tintinniere, Richard Beyers, handbells, and Anna Martin, piano, will also perform. Music will include sacred and popular Christmas favorites including selections from Vivaldi’s “Gloria.”

The Chamber Chorale will take the audience on a musical sledding adventure with “Toboggan for Two.” The Male Chorus will wish everyone a “Holly, Jolly Christmas.”
