Father, son rescued from swamp

MARQUETTE — The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office around 6:30 p.m. Saturday responded to a report of two Bessemer residents stuck waist deep in a swamp and unable to move while tracking a deer in Bessemer Township.

The father and son were rescued from the swamp and freezing water with assistance of Gogebic County Search and Rescue, Bessemer Township Fire Department and Beacon Ambulance, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

The two individuals were transported to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital for medical attention, but their condition was unknown.
