MARQUETTE — Shoppers were out in full force Friday, taking advantage of many local sales and otherwise participating in one of the busiest shopping days of the year — the day after Thanksgiving.
Sales were said to be “absolutely fantastic” at Pranges in Marquette, said Liz Sieracke, store manager. She added that there were more than 600 persons in the store 15 minutes after the doors opened. Many of these customers were standing outside in line early Friday morning in anticipation of discounts for the first 500 customers. Sieracke said throughout the day there was a very strong flow of customers in the store which surpassed last year’s sales at 4 p.m. The Friday following Thanksgiving is the start of the biggest shopping days for Pranges, she added.

MARQUETTE — Products from four new companies soon will make their debut on the Marquette scene. These four firms — J.A. Manufacturing Co., Wizard Products, Trimple Products and Marsco Products — are units in the area’s first Junior Achievement program. Eighty fellows and girls from Marquette’s three high schools are taking advantage of this chance, and their early response — described by faculty adviser Bond Perket of Graveraet High School as “terrific” — leads one to believe that they’ll make a success of it.
