NEGAUNEE — Having apparently run its course, as far as school students are concerned, the flu epidemic affected Negaunee’s adult population this week. Absenteeism of personnel in businesses and in municipal departments was on the increase. Attendance was back to normal in public and parochial schools, but apparently children on the sick list last week had passed the virus on to adult members of the family. Hardest hit was the City of Negaunee, where 13 regular municipal employees were on the sick list Thursday. Absence of six truck drivers, or half of his crew of operators, was hampering the public works department Supt. Arthur Anderson pointed out. “Although we will attempt to get along the best way we can until those on the sick list return, it means we probably will run behind schedule on such activities as street sweeping and our fall leaf pick-up program,” Anderson said.
