3 injured in CR 550 accident

MARQUETTE — Three people were injured and transported to U.P. Health Systems-Marquette as the result of a multiple-vehicle accident in Marquette Township on Saturday.

Marquette Township Fire and EMS Chief Ron DeMarse said the Marquette Township EMS responded to a call on County Road 550 near Old Saloon Trail at about 3:10 p.m.

Preliminary reports suggest that one vehicle was attempting to make a U-turn on County Road 550 when it was struck by an oncoming vehicle, DeMarse said. At least one person had to be extricated from one of the vehicles at the scene.

The medical condition and the names of the victims are unknown at this time. More information will be reported as it becomes available.

The Michigan State Police – Negaunee Post and Northern Michigan University Public Safety also responded to the scene, according to Marquette County Dispatch personnel.
