NEGAUNEE — Five Negaunee band students will have attended music camps by summer’s end, according to Negaunee Band Director Gerald Anderson.

Percussionists Dan Soine and Vance Nurkala, trumpeter Gina Anderson, and tuba player Brad Stott attended the Iron County Band Camp in Crystal Falls. Gina Anderson expects to attend a jazz session at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in downstate Twin Lakes. John Piirainen, who plays trombone and baritone, will be attending the All-State band program at Interlochen.

Those attending camps received scholarships from the Negaunee Band Fund, the GFWC Negaunee Woman’s Club, and the Marquette Women’s Club.

NEGAUNEE — Christine Brown, 1-month-old girl from Bellevue Location in Negaunee, may be a lucky girl, but she is simply going to have to wait. She won a bicycle in the Dairy Mart’s anniversary drawing here, but she can’t ride yet, of course.

Other winners were Mrs. Bernadine Gleason, Hill Street, who won 40 pints of ice cream — and she won’t have to take it all at once — and Robert Betts, North Third Street, won a case of pop.

Mary Jane Bertucci, West Division Street, won $5 in fountain service.
