Special meetings held this week

NEGAUNEE — The months-long search for a Negaunee City Manager may finally be coming to a close.

The Negaunee City Council will hold three special meetings at the Negaunee Senior Center this week to interview final candidates for the city manager position.

Craig Brunet will be interviewed at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday; Ryan Soucy will be interviewed at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday; and the final candidate Carlo Pilgrim will be interviewed at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Although no biographical information on the candidates was available before press time, the council has been working with the consulting firm Harding Group, LLC since April to source and screen applicants and conduct assessments on the final short list of candidates.

The city’s Department of Public Works supervisor has filled the role of interim city manager since the March 9 departure of former city manager Jeff Thornton as the result of a separation agreement.

According to the city charter, an interim city manager may be in place for six months until a permanent replacement can be found.

The council also approved Robert Juidici, P.C., to fill the city attorney position.

Former city attorney Bruce Houghton submitted his resignation in April, but agreed to stay on with the city until a new city manager is found.
