Police arrest juvenile for larceny

MARQUETTE — Police arrested a 17-year-old Marquette resident over the weekend for allegedly stealing packages delivered to people’s homes.

The juvenile was arrested on warrants out of the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for larceny between $200 and $1,000, and receiving and concealing stolen property between $200 and $1,000, according to a news release from the Marquette Police Department. The subject’s identity is being withheld pending arraignment in Marquette County District Court.

The arrest stems from an investigation by Marquette police into numerous complaints of postal packages being stolen from residents’ front porches. A 16-year-old male has also been linked with these incidents, police said.

Both charges are one-year misdemeanors and/or a $2,000 fine or three times the value of the property stolen, whichever is greater. Police reminded residents to make sure expected packages do not sit out for extended periods of time.
