Police arrest 2 for string of larcenies

MARQUETTE — Two individuals have been identified in connection with a string of larcenies near the 1500 block of Fair Avenue in Marquette.

The Marquette Police Department was dispatched to the area around 6 a.m. Sunday in response to a larceny from a motor vehicle complaint, according to an MPD news release.

Tyler Scott Johnson, 23, of Ishpeming was arrested and charged with larceny from a motor vehicle and a probation violation. He was arraigned Monday in Marquette County District Court, and was scheduled for a preliminary examination at 10:20 a.m. Sept. 18.

The other subject allegedly involved in the incidents is a 16-year-old male from Ishpeming, the release states, who wasn’t named due to his status as a minor.

Further investigation revealed numerous other larcenies had occurred in the area, the release states, and both subjects were found in possession of several items that were reported stolen.

Northern Michigan University Public Safety is assisting in the ongoing investigation.

The Marquette Police Department asks victims of larceny to report the incident, and reminds residents to lock up their personal belongings and vehicles when not attended.
