Water valve replacement Monday

ISHPEMING – Water valve replacement in the city of Ishpeming at several intersections starting Monday could result in temporary disruptions to water service and traffic delays.

According to an Ishpeming Department of Public Works press release, the work is scheduled to commence as follows:

Monday at the intersection of Lake and Euclid Streets; Tuesday at the intersection of First and North Streets; Wednesday, at the intersection of Empire and 8th Streets; Thursday at the intersection of Oak and High Streets.

Residents living within a few blocks of the affected intersections can expect temporary disruptions to water service during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the release states.

Traffic will also be impacted at the intersections. Questions can be directed to Ishpeming City DPW at 486-9371.

Neighbors Night Out held Monday

ISHPEMING — Ishpeming Township’s Neighbors Night Out 150 year Celebration will take place from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Ishpeming Township Hall, 1575 U.S. 41 West.

The event will feature fire truck rides, a bounce house, giveaway drawings for kids bikes and local displays. Hot dogs, chips, pop and cake will be provided provided.

Scrap tire collection Wednesday

MARQUETTE — The City of Marquette has received a 2017 Scrap Tire Cleanup Program Grant from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. The City has partnered with the Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority for this collection. Representatives will collect tires and haul them to the landfill for processing.

Community residents are welcome to bring their tires to Lakeview Arena, located at 401 E. Fair Ave., on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Individual residents may bring as many personal tires as they would like. Car and truck tires that are 22.5 inches in diameter or less will be accepted as part of the program. Larger tires, tractor tires and tires on split rims will not be accepted at this site.
