Woman injured following collision
MARQUETTE — A Marquette woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries Friday afternoon after a collision at the intersection of US-41 and Grove Street, according to a news release from the Marquette City Police Department.
Officers responded to the accident at about 12:45 p.m.
A 76-year-old Marquette man driving a westbound vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto Grove Street when he failed to yield the right-of-way to an oncoming eastbound car.
The eastbound vehicle was driven by a 30-year-old Marquette woman, who was transported to UP Health Systems-Marquette.
The driver of the westbound vehicle, who was not injured, was shown at fault, according to the release.
Police declined to release names or other details pending an accident report. Det. Lt. Greg Kinonen said the investigation is ongoing.
The Marquette police were assisted at the scene by the Marquette City Fire Department and UPHS EMS.
MAPS to discuss 2017-18 budget
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education on Monday will host a public hearing and consider adoption of its 2017-18 academic year budget.
The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Marquette Senior High School library. Among other items, the board will also consider setting meeting dates for the remainder of 2017; and accepting a bid for work at the Superior Hills Elementary School parking lot.
