MARQUETTE — Michigan employers are beginning to discover what older Americans have known all along–that persons who have surpassed middle age still have a lot to offer. And that premise is what the local Six County Consortium Older Workers Job Placement and Training Program is all about. The program will be especially active during the next few days as Older Workers Week is observed statewide. The goal of the special week is to see how older Americans help out business, whether through volunteer or paid work.

MARQUETTE — The National Food Store at 1034 N. Third St. will open for business next week. Although some details remain to be ironed out, the opening has been tentatively fixed for Wednesday, according to Ray Morin, who will manage the store, which is part of the National Food chain. Thirty-five persons will be employed at the store here, Morin said. A complete food and grocery store line will be carried.
