NMU holds public forum Thursday

MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University will hold a public forum on the U.S. president’s executive order banning travel from seven Muslim-majority countries, currently blocked by a federal judge. The event will be held from 3-5 p.m. Thursday in Reynolds Recital Hall.

The forum will address the role of the university in the current political situation, how the university can best protect its students and faculty, and how to most effectively respond to the order as individuals and a university.

Some of the panelists scheduled to participate are: professors Jonathan Allen and Steve Nelson from Political Science; and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Jessica Cruz. Others will be named later.
