Sheriff’s office seeks assistance

MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from the public regarding a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon that reportedly caused minor injuries. The driver of a third vehicle is being sought for questioning in relation to this crash.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, a pickup truck pulled out onto U.S. 41 from Northwoods Road by Gander Mountain at about 2:15 p.m., causing Eric Shapiro, of Ishpeming, who was driving a 1997 Subaru, to avoid the truck by moving to the center turn lane.

As Shapiro did this, he was not able to slow his vehicle down in time and lost control. His vehicle slid into the path of a third vehicle, a 2013 Dodge four-door driven by Kathleen Lintula of Eben Junction, that was also in the center lane waiting to turn into the Menards parking lot.

A passenger in the Shapiro vehicle suffered minor injuries and sought their own treatment. Lintula was not injured.

The sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in locating the initial pickup truck with the following description: older Ford F150, navy blue in color with silver accents and a cap on the back. The front of the vehicle has a piece of cardboard blocking the front grill area.
