Palmer man injured in accident

RICHMOND TOWNSHIP — A 27-year-old Palmer man was transported to the hospital Wednesday for numerous non-life-threatening injuries after crashing his car into several trees on M-35 near County Road MK in Richmond Township.

The man was traveling southbound on M-35 around 9:40 a.m. when his car reportedly crossed the centerline on a curve, entered the ditch on the east side of the road and struck several trees.

According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, the driver’s side airbag deployed and the driver struck his head on the windshield. It is believed he was not wearing a seatbelt a the time of the crash.

He was transported to UP Health System-Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The man’s name was not released, as police suspect alcohol may have contributed to the crash. Charges are anticipated for the driver, pending blood test results, according to the release.

Also assisting at the scene were personnel from the Richmond Township Fire Department and UP Health System EMS.
