Township to consider its 2017 budget

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Township Board on Tuesday will consider adopting its 2017 budget.

The board will meet 7 p.m. at the Marquette Township Community Center, located at 1000 Commerce Drive.

Including the voter-authorized road repair millage and various miscellaneous revenues, the 2017 budget’s general fund revenues total roughly $2.031 million. Expenditures were listed at about $2.029 million.

Several fees are proposed to be reduced under the new budget. The residential monthly garbage collection fee could drop 25 cents to $14.75, as various debt obligation fees related to the township’s wastewater system may also decrease.

Meanwhile, the monthly wastewater fee is proposed to drop from $12.79 per 1,000 gallons to $12.06, and the monthly water usage rate could decrease from $6.43 per 1,000 gallons to $6.08.
