Two arrested for assault in Marquette

MARQUETTE – Two residents have been arrested following an alleged assault with a pool cue and a makeshift bat that occurred Monday evening in Marquette, according to police officials.

The Marquette City Police Department responded to the parking lot of 918 W. Washington St., in Marquette at 10:10 p.m. Monday following an assault complaint, according to a press release from the department. When officers arrived on scene, both the suspects and the victims fled the scene.

A short time later, police located the victims and suspects. Through investigation, police learned the victims had been assaulted by two suspects with a pool cue and a makeshift bat.

Both victims were treated and released by UP Health System EMS for their injuries, according to the release.

The two suspects involved in the assault are lodged in the Marquette County Jail pending arraignment.

The Mining Journal does not identify suspects until they have been formally arraigned.
