Man found dead in Chicagon Lake
IRON MOUNTAIN – A 57-year-old Iron Mountain man was found dead in Chicagon Lake Sunday, following reports of an overturned boat in George Youngs Bay.
Deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Search and Rescue Unit, responded to the call from a local fisherman regarding the capsized boat Sunday night. A search by boat was conducted and the body of Robert Polich was found floating near shore, according to a sheriff’s office press release.
Polich was last seen Thursday night when he told a relative he was going fishing, and it is believed that he fell overboard that same night. He was wearing a personal flotation device when he was found.
Foul play is not suspected, and the investigation continues into the cause of death.
The sheriff’s office was also assisted by the Michigan State Police, Iron County Central Dispatch and the Nash Funeral Home.
