Detectives assigned to UPSET, along with agents from Homeland Security Investigations and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, conducted an investigation in Ewen that lead to the arrest of the two suspects, a 28-year-old female and a 29-year-old male, both of Ewen.

According to UPSET, the investigation into the sale of crystal meth remains on-going and additional arrests are expected.

Detectives were assisted by personnel from the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Department, the Michigan State Police Wakefield post, the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain post and the Michigan State Police Calumet post.

“UPSET was also assisted by the Ontonagon County Prosecutor’s Office, which has worked closely with the detectives and provided trusted guidance on their investigations,” the release states. “The Ontonagon County Prosecutor’s Office has excelled in providing wise counsel to the detectives and promotes productive cooperation with the federal agents to ensure the cases in Ontonagon are handled in an effective manner.”
