Tailgate party kicks off MSHS football season
Above, Marquette Senior High School hosted their third annual Tailgate Party Friday evening to kick off the start of their 2018 football season. The free event included music, food and games for community members before the Marquette Redmen varsity team took the field at 7 p.m. against Traverse City St. Francis. Fox Sports Marquette broadcasted the event and interviewed Superintendent of Marquette Area Public Schools Bill Saunders and Event Coordinator Tesse Sayen. The Redmen will continue their season Friday against Traverse City Central. At right, Event Coordinator Tesse Sayen serves food to attendees. “It’s a fun and free event. A lot of our community has pitched in to make this happen,” Sayen said. Tailgaters could enter the tailgate raffle, play games such as cornhole and enjoy food while they waited for the first football game of the season to begin. (Journal photo by Trinity Carey)
