MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office searched the Forestville area for Skandia Township resident John Robert Rowland, a missing person, throughout Thursday morning and afternoon.

Rowland was not located in the search. According to officials, Michigan State Police are expected to assist with a helicopter search today.

While the vehicle Rowland was driving, a maroon Chevrolet Astro van, was initially found by the agency around 11:15 p.m. Saturday night on Forestville Road near Huron Woods Drive, officials received a tip that the van was stuck on Forestville Road as early as 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 23.

Rowland, who was last seen in the city of Marquette on around 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 23, is 5’11” tall, around 145 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. A photo of Rowland is available on the Facebook page of the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

Marquette County Sheriff’s Office continues to encourage the public to call or send in tips including information on when the van was last seen stuck on Forestville Road prior to 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 23.
