Negaunee Middle School student hit by car

NEGAUNEE — A 12-year-old girl was treated at UP Health System-Marquette Tuesday morning for non-life threatening injuries after her foot was run over by a vehicle. Police did not identify the child due to her age.

The vehicle, a 2008 Honda Civic, was driven by Toni Rappazini, 37, of Negaunee, according to a Negaunee Police Department press release. Rappazini was traveling south on Teal Lake Avenue when the Negaunee Middle School student was crossing the road and ran into the side of her vehicle, police said.

The child fell to the ground and her foot was run over by the car, according to the release.

At approximately 7:23 a.m. Officer David Salbert from the Negaunee Police Department was dispatched to the scene.

A full report from the responding officer was unable to be reviewed this morning and additional information was unavailable.
