3 arrested in Marquette on drug charges
MARQUETTE — A brief low speed pursuit in the city of Marquette resulted in the arrest of three men on charges of cocaine possession early Friday morning.
According to a release from the Marquette Police Department, a 33 year-old Marquette man and two 21-year-old Milwaukee men were arrested after a low speed pursuit.
At approximately 12:27 a.m. Friday, MPD officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a registration plate violation near the intersection of U.S. 41 and McClellan Avenue.
After initially stopping, the suspect drove off, the release states.
The pursuit began heading east on West Baraga Avenue at speeds of under 25 miles per hour, police say, and ended when the suspect vehicle was cut off in the 600 block of West Baraga Avenue by officers from the Chocolay Township Police Department and the Marquette County Sheriff’s department.
The three men were taking into custody without incident, the release states.
The 33-year-old Marquette man, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested for flee and elude in the 4th degree, driving while license suspended 2nd degree, and possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. The two 21-year-old passengers were arrested for possession of cocaine.
Charges are pending upon further review be the Marquette County Prosecutors office, the release states.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s department has confirmed that the suspects are lodged in the Marquette County Jail pending arraignment. The Mining Journal does not name individuals charged of a crime until after arraignment.
